Vaginal Odor

Should there be a smell at all?

The product advertised on this site promising to end vaginal odor intrigues me. Isn't is normal for this body part to have a natural smell?

Vaginal odor is a difficult subject ...thankfully the promotional advertisement for Feminol on this web page suggests a cure for the problem. Is it unnatural for the vagina to have an odor? I didn't think so, and in fact my own experience tells me differently. I'm sure the women who perform in the annual productions of the Vagina Monologues would promote the fact that vaginas do, and should have an odor!

The odors that the product actually offers to cure are caused by a variety of infections associated with malodorous discharge. Chances are you will know the difference between your unique scent and an unnatural odor resulting from infection.

If you do suspect that you have a vaginal infection with malodorous discharge as a result, see your physician. The three most common causes of vaginal infectious syndromes are:

  • yeast,
  • Trichomonas vaginalis,
  • and bacterial vaginosis.

There are treatments for all three of these infections, and I'm pretty sure feminine hygiene spray is not in the arsenal. Trichomonas vaginalis can also be transmitted sexually to your partner, making it imperative to consult with your physician.
