The Queen Elizabeth II hospitals and other healthcare facilities in the Capital District Health Authority attempt to control the spread of Norovirus infection.

A little over one month after CBC reported a spread of norovirus infection among hospitals and care homes in Winnipeg, the largest healthcare facility east of Montreal is also faced with a norovirus outbreak. The Capital District Health Authority in Halifax, Nova Scotia has restricted visitation in hospitals and clinics in efforts to prevent the spread of norovirus among patients in their facilities.

At least 40 patients at facilities in the Capital District Health Authority have fallen ill due to norovirus infection in the past week and a half, and relatives of an 88-year-old woman blamed a visit to the Halifax Infirmary emergency department for norovirus infection that resulted in her death.

The Dartmouth General Hospital, the Abbie J. Lane building and parts of other hospitals in the district have been closed temporarily to visitors in an attempt to prevent further spread of norovirus infection.
