If you are a science student, a teacher or just a curious mind, you most likely look to the internet for science information, and any search for science websites invariably results in a very long lost of possibilities.Some of the sites are excellent, others confusing at best, and some are rife with misinformation and may further confuse you instead of answering your question.

Science Prof Online

Science Prof Online is a relatively new, quickly growing general science website with a wide range of current topic categories including General Science, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Immunology as well as Study Skills.

SPO promises answers to your science questions in language you can understand. This one-stop science site provides clearly presented information andincludes helpful graphics and micrographs (actual photos taken through light and electron microscopes).

Cells Alive!

This multi-award-winning site offers very user-friendly information on Cell Biology, Microbiology, Immunology and Microscopy as well as visually-oriented interactive tutorials on several different concepts central to cellular biology, including cell cycle, mitosis, meiosis. There are also helpful videos and an image gallery.

Microbe Wiki

MicrobeWiki is a free wiki resource on microbes and microbiology, edited by students and overseen by microbiologists at Kenyon College. There is specific information and photos on a huge range of microbial life including pathogens, normal flora (beneficial microbes) and everything in between.

This Blogger blogspot, created by student Emma Lurie in 2006 is simply fantastic. Where else can you find cartoon depictions of Herpes virus that actually make you exclaim, “Awwwww!” Kidding aside on the adorable graphics, the information presented for each type of microbe is truly educational and engaging.
